About Me
I’m Harry — grower, florist and founder of The Green Door Flower Co.
The farm was established in 2021, inspired by growing the flowers for my own wedding. What began as a personal project quickly revealed a wider need for locally grown, eco-friendly flowers — blooms with character, scent, and a lighter footprint on the land.
I trained as an ecologist and spent several years working in wildlife conservation, both in the UK and overseas. Caring for the natural world has always been central to my work, and that same ethos runs through everything we do at The Green Door Flower Co. From how we grow, to where we grow, our aim is to work with nature — enhancing local biodiversity while creating flowers that bring joy indoors.
We are based on the edge of Ashampstead Common, close to the villages of Ashampstead, Pangbourne and Yattendon in West Berkshire. Our bright, open growing space supports a wide range of wildlife, from solitary bees to countless other species — provided our small army of rescue hens don’t get there first and scratch up the seedlings in early spring.
Our bouquets are designed to reflect the countryside around us: natural, seasonal and a little wild. Each one brings a small piece of the garden into your home — or into the hands of someone you love.
Our Values
Seasonality over perfection
We grow and work with the seasons, rather than against them. That means flowers at their natural best — each slightly wiggly stem shaped by weather, soil and time, not forced uniformity.
Nature first
Our farm is a working ecosystem, not just a production space. By growing without synthetic chemicals, we support soil health, pollinators and wildlife, allowing nature to do what it does best.
Scent, texture and character
We believe flowers should delight all the senses. Fragrance, movement and natural form matter just as much as colour — often more so.
Slow growing, thoughtful making
From seed to bouquet, everything we create is done with care. Slower growing results in stronger, longer-lasting flowers, and designs that feel considered rather than mass-produced.
Local by choice
Growing and selling locally reduces unnecessary transport and keeps flowers connected to place. Our blooms reflect the landscapes of West Berkshire and the changing rhythm of the year.
Honesty and transparency
We believe in being open about how our flowers are grown and arranged. No greenwashing, no shortcuts — just flowers grown with integrity.
